My mother and I had a massage here last week while my husband and little daughter went to Evans Plunge. We would have been better off going to the plunge because we both had very, very disappointing massages. We requested the typical Swedish massage which we have both had DOZENS of at facilities all over the country. My massage therapist applied very, very little pressure and it was the worst massage I had every had. My mother's was even worse than mine if you can believe it. Her therapist actually just laid her hands on my mother's neck for at least five straight minutes. Every therapist either of us has ever had has ALWAYS instructed us to speak up if we would prefer more or less pressure. Neither of these therapists asked but my mother did speak up and suggested that the therapist could apply more pressure (since she wasn't doing ANYTHING as it was). My mother said she really didn't do much else at all and when we went to pay, the receptionist whom I assume was the owner tried to charge my mother $15 MORE on top of the outrageous $75 we were already paying for an hour massage because the therapist came out and told her that she did a half deep tissue massage on my mother. That massage was the farthest thing from a deep tissue massage either of us has EVER seen. We stayed at the Historic Log Cabins up the hill from the spa and it was the lodge's understanding that they had a reciprocating 20% discount with one another as well. That's why we chose to go to the Springs Bath House in the first place. There was another option in town. When we got there with our $2 coupon for the mineral bath (outside hottub with supposed mineral water in it) and our 20% off card we were told that the lodge had misunderstood and that was the second card this week they had gotten. The "owner?" said the lodge was supposed to offer 20% only and not the spa when the spa booked their "guests" in the Historic Log Cabins. Needless to say we did NOT get our 20% off our really pathetic and disappointing massages AND the "owner?" would only honor the measley $2 of on ONE of our mineral baths. She told us we would have to go back and ask for another card. By that time, we were really angry and totally finished with our dealings with the Springs Bath House. We sincerely think they were running a scam with their no pressure, mamby pamby massages so people will request more pressure and then they can try to charge more. I suppose some people would have just paid it. We didn't. I only wish I had my $4 mercy tip back as well and our extra $2. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone. Skip it and try the other spa in town. It just can't be worse.
